Guest martin Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 How did you install the files ? I had to copy the jar files to Storage/My Documents and then load up the Java application and select install. I haven't tried many games though.
Guest monkey1001 Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 i downloaded it it was a zip file the game is called pang then i copied it 2 my documents then tried to run it using smart explorer then thats when the screen comes up saying command am i missing something?????
Guest martin Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 You have to put a .jar file in the My Documents directory. Try unzipping the downloaded file on the pC and see if there is a jar file contained in it.
Guest monkey1001 Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 i thought that the jar file was the game how will i no wot it looks like
Guest martin Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 If you got http://midlet.org/index2.jsp you will see that you get the option of JAD or JAR for each downdloads. I find that only JAR files load via the JAVA Installer. The jar file looks like a zip file when downloaded to the the PC it probably was that. Where did you get the pang file ?
Guest monkey1001 Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 i use coolsmartphone.com had problems till now i just tried another game and the samething has happened does java have to be a certain setting?
Guest martin Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Have you ckecked the available phone memory using Accessories-Spacemaker ?

(Start java and search for games) Games should be kept in the same folder as Java (I think...) Edited April 22, 2005 by pierre

Where did you get the pang file ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It depends on the phone (actually the JVM on the phone). For the MPx220, you have to download the JAD file using IE on the phone, and then it will set it up for you.

Load the Java Program for the Start menu Select Menu-Install form the JAVA program. Highlight the JAVA application and select Menu-Install again. You should now see the java application in the JAVA programs main menu ;)

Guest martin Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 I don't have my C500 unlocked at the moment and I just get the usual warning about unsigned applications when the installing JAVA files. BTW I've just seen the address http://www.getjar.com posted on another forum and getjar has some files for the 220x176 screen although under different phone models. Some files work and some dont. I'm using the through connection to access wap.getjar.com and inserting the downlad code in the quick download option. Lots of fun ;)
Guest monkey1001 Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 do you use coolsmartphone.com thats were i get my games from can you see if you can get them to work on your phone
Guest monkey1001 Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 ive just realised that when i go into smart explorer and try to run the zip file (game)it unzips it so i try to run this then the next screen that comes up with command and peramaters is for a run command i think i need to type something but what???? :?:
Guest martin Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 You don't use smartexplorer. You just place the jar file in the 'My Documents' folder and then load up the JAVA application from the Start menu. From the JAVA app you select Menu-install.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I do it the other way around; via SmartExplorer. All my *.jar files (J2ME) are associated with Java MIDlet so when I click on a jar file, the MIDlet manager launches. If you have already installed the midlet, you can just open Java MIDlet manager and choose the file you want to load/play. My jar files are inside \Storage Card\My Documents\JAR @martin I got some of my files from that site. Have you tried Volley Balley? ;)
Guest monkey1001 Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 not 2 worry after all the messing around and late nights (with stress) i ve sorted it i downloaded the file from midlet.org and it worked straight away no messin i just copied it to my documents looked in java and bam there it was. i ve tried it both ways and it works fine just like to say thanks for all ya hep wicked site ;)

Have you tried Volley Balley? Not yet but it looks fun so I think I download that one next ;) I'll also try loading it through Smartexplorer because so far I've only tried loading it from the JAVA install menu.
