Can't seem to get mine to work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same here: the WMP10 on the french orange rom doesn't seem to support the video sync features. Which is wierd, since I also have a SDA Music with WMP10, which synchronises video fine, even though the wmp10mobile version of that one is older than the one on the orange rom! Anyone knows how to fix the problem that video won't play fullscreen when switched to fullscreen mode in wmp10? (video @ 176x220 plays fine, but video @ 160x120 (=size used during wmp video sync) shows with huge black borders.. ;):()
Guest bneufeld Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 You need to change the settings your device reports to the desktop Player so it will transcode your video to a size that will take up the entire screen. In the registry under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video for each video codec change: PreferredWidth: 220 PreferredHeight: 164 This is just to allow transfered video to play in full screen. I don't know why you're not able to sync video with the French C500 image.

Still, only video's with 220x176 will play in fullscreen. The synchronised tv (which has 160x120 resolution) still plays with huge black borders ;) I also tried setting all the registry keys on my phone to 220x176, but that didn't work either. I'm guessing there should be a registry key on our desktop pc somewhere that sets the wmp10 encoding resolution.. but I have yet to find it... Roderick
Guest dc_demand Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 So I just found this out: I set all the registry keys to 220x164 now. In MediaPlayer I can select to synchronise to Storage Card and to SmartPhone. Obviously I want to sync to Storage Card, since that's where all the space is. As it turns out, when sync'ing to Storage Card, it will disregard the registry keys i've set, and always sync to 160x120. BUT: when synchronizing to SmartPhone, it -will- look in the registry, because it has encoded the video to 218x164, and therefor plays fullscreen on in windows media player! So.. now the problem is: how to get it to resize the same way, when synchronising to the storage card? can you do this through the SmartPhone option somehow? Or how can we set registry keys so it handles the storage card in the same way? Roderick
Guest dc_demand Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Now I'm really puzzled! I have got two MediaCenter PCs at home. And so far, I had only been testing it on the most recent one. Just now, I tried hooking my phone up to the older MediaCenter PC, and it works there  It just syncs video to the StorageCard at 164x220, like I set in the registry. Wierd thing is though, that my device isn't recognized correctly on this MCE. MediaCenter won't connect to it when using 'Sync to Device' and the autosync features in wmp10 are disabled as well. Though, on my new MediaCenter, it's exactly the other way around: it doesn't convert to the right resolution, but it does let me use all the autosync features in WMP ánd in MediaCenter. Anyway, if anyone has a solution for one or both problems, let me know! Roderick
Guest bneufeld Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 The reason why the video files work with one system and not the other is because the machine that you originally transferred the video has cached the transcoded video. Delete the contents of C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\Transcoded Files Cache. Then sync the file again. It should transcode the file to the new settings on your phone.

I tried like -everything- > installed wmp10 (latest version), reinstalled activesync, updated dvr-ms decoder. All without any luck. I just couldn't figure out what it could be: it made no sence. So in the end, I switched the usb cable into a different usb-slot.... and now it works!! ;) :?: I still don't know why I had all these problems, and kind of bummed out it took up so much of my time, while the solution was like extreamly simple. But i'm really happy it's all working now!! I'm off syncing new tv shows to my phone! -= now I just need to find myself a 1gb mini-sd card :D =- tnx again for your help Roderick

On your storage card you should have a file called WMPInfo.xml Make a backup of it, then delete it. Clear out the Transcoded Cache files from your PC. (in WMP on your PC click Tools-Options - Choose Devices tab, Click Advanced button, click Delete Files button) Reboot yer PC, (doesnt hurt) Reboot yer Phone. Try and sync. Good luck Andy
