hi,

i received from orange the code to unlock my c500 so i can use other networks sims with it.

problem is...can't get the code to work! very strange...i tried six times with no luck. (the code is correct according to orange), and can't try any more either, tho the phone is not blocked like the orange call center guy told me whould happen after six tries?!?!.

it's a 8 digit code. the screen name is SIMlock or something like that.

any ideas guys? am i doing something wrong? (probably;-)

thanks

hi,

no i didn't pay for it cuz orange france gives you the code for free after six months of subscription.

I'm afraid to use the imei-check cuz i already tried six times to unlock the phone with the code i got from orange. even after hard reset the phone remembers that i tried six times !!!

any othr suggestions?

thx

Had mine unlocked by Orange and it is a 8 digit code. Silly question but are you in numeric mode when entering the code?

lol...yes i'm in numeric mode. I can see the digits that i typed in.

one question tho, after you turned on your phone with a different sim, the first screen you saw was the SIMlock screen ?? where you had to put in your code?

cuz orange france has a different procedure to put in the code but my c500 never follows their procedure! strange. My first screen with a different sim is the SIMlock !!!

thx

Had the wrong code !! orange gave me the code for my first handset that i changed after dust problem...and i gave them the imei in my contract !!! silly me! lol

i thought they have my imei anyway but no, or they didn't check.

anyway, i also had dust problem with my second handset and last week tried to change it but orange told me no way! no such animal!! and i got really angry and it's not working with them at all...at least not in france :-)

..so today after putting the right code to unblock the sim...i asked kindly if they can help me with the dust problem...guess what..they did !! addmitting its a problem and sending me a new one tuseday !!!!

two problems solved in one day ! nice.

thx guys for your help!

A related question..

How does Orange send the code? (email or SMS)

I requested the unlock code yesterday, but had to go on a trip where there's no Orange roaming coverage!!!

But, I kept the Orange SIM with a friend in the UK to keep it rinning (on a different phone - not C500) & took the C500 with me (how stupid, ha? [-( ) I just can't live without my C500!!! I need help, don't you think?? :-k

Anyway, any ideas?

Thanks..

;)

if you use the ota site you need to connect the phone to the net. you can use pass through connection on a pc

if you mean after requesting unlock via email they will reply with an attachment that needs to be run on the phone

Squall,

Thanks for the reply, but I believe we're not talking about the same subject..

I'm talking about SIM unlocking not Application unlocking.. Or did I get it worng?
