Guest nitnoy Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 I bought an unlocked Audiovox SMT 5600 on Ebay some time ago, at that time I was not aware that it did not have 900 Frequency that is used here in Norway, I can use the the phone some of the time because it contain the 1800 Freq. that is used when the 900 is overloaded (that how I think it works). So my question is: is it possible to get 900 freq. or is that a hardware issue, if it is is there a place where I can tradeit in to a mobile that contain the 900 freq. It is running the latest french ROM . Thanks in advance for any response. Regards Nitnoy
Guest martin Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 It's set in hardware and the SMT5600 is GSM 850/1800/1900. You might have better luck selling the SMT5600 to someone who travels to the US and then you can buy a C500. Probably easier than finding a trade for it.
Guest bneufeld Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 The 900 and 850 are set via the radio stack. If you can get your hands on a C500 radio stack that would enable 900 instead of 850.

Guest bneufeld Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Check out http://www.mobismart.net/forums/Default.aspx?g=posts&m=696 If you can get your hands on a C500 just get the GSM on the storage card don't worry about saving it to your computer. Then use that storage card to replace what is on your smt-5600.
Guest bneufeld Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Forget what I said. There looks like it is impossible or just more involved to flip frequencies. I assumed you could because of reports here and other sites with people installing images from other service providers that caused the radio to change frequencies. So I'm not saying it can't be done. It just can not via the method I suggested.
