Guest SkUk21 Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 Hi chaps, can you please help. i'm looking to buy a decoder to use sky on my PC. i want a direct connection from the dish to the PC. can any of you advise something? i've already got my sky working on my PC thru my tv card but the quality is crap. Please advise thanks :D ;)
Guest squall Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 afaik you cant do it direct, the only way is to use the sky decoder then take the output of that into the pc.
Guest Alex_le_brit Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 You could try the Digital Spy Forums, they seem to know all sorts of stuff about sky that I don't. you can find them HERE?
Guest peekie Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 remember a while back there is a way to get the digital signal to a pc but you would need a fast computer to record programmes if thats what you want to do , computer screens are not the best for sky anyway go buy a beamer and make a home cinema in the living room , would look far cooler ;)
Guest Dade Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 It can be done but the kit you need to do it is really expensive, you'll be looking at about £800-£1000. Some high end AV systems use them as you can get higher quality MPEG decoding on your PC than you get with a regular sky box. I think they are called SDI cards.
