Guest yakult Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 hi there when will kumite will be release by AI? anyone?
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 The last word from AI was that the gane development has been suspended indefinitely, I seem to remember. Moved to Software - Games.
Guest Pondrew Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Really sad. msmobiles was being such a jerk when he said it was vapourware back when the demo was released so it sucks for him to seem to be right...
Guest muff Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 sigh... the demo alone proves it was not vapourware as we've said several time before, because of hardware changes made with the e200 (4 way stick) and subsequent phones (the c500 'stick') we decided that it wouldn't be a good game experience, so we put it on the back burner rather than release a game that wouldn't play well sorry folks, it was done for good reasons tho muff
Guest Pondrew Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 (edited) I assumed it was probably bluetooth compatibility preventing the proposed multiplayer that scuppered it. If it was the lack of 8way then surely there's hope for the future given that the Sagem MyS7 (also badged as a Mitac Mio) has an 8way joystick? Surely there must be more Smartphones to come that will include eight way?! Makes me nostalgic for my old original SPV with its excellent eight way direction pad. Unlikely some I never had an trouble using that. It's also the reason I wish HTC would roll out the Voyager derivative (sometimes dubbed the HTC Charlotte) that went back to this control method. Guest muff Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 (edited) as you suggest, bluetooth compatabilities were also a factor but the fact that most devices seemed to go first to 4 way, and then to the rocker with the C500, well that scuppered it altogether ;) we've pushed hard (when we get a chance) for 8 way sticks, but no one seems to want to listen to us, as you say the original SPV stick was pretty decent (not ideal for rotated gameplay, but not as bad as 4 way) - want to know what's even scarier? MS saying that thumb control is what they plan for future device input - that's certainly going to knacker gaming as touch screens (certainly atm) only read a single touch location, so no multipress at all - so unless they retain a stick and some buttons, gaming on the new devices is going to all be of the stylus driven type :/ as for the suspension of Kumite - believe me, it wasn't an easy decision to make after all that work :D Edited April 24, 2005 by muff
Guest mavisdavis Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 @muff Does this mean that IF a Smartphone comes out with a 9way pad/joystick with multipress functionality you will re animate Kumite from the ashes? Please dont give up on this game as I ve owned every HTC version of smartphone and altho Im bitterly dissapointed about the joystick going from bad to worse Im still hoping to have a play on Kumite. Im not overly bothered about BT multiplayer as I only play games in the bog and don't fancy inviting my supervisors in for a fight every hour.lol
Guest muff Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 there is certainly no reason why it could not be revived if handsets were suitable for it truth be told tho, the current code was created to work within the limitations of the original SPV/E100/E200 - far more is possible now and even more will be on future devices, so it's likely I'd rework it to make the most of the device at the time
