Hold the power button down while soft resetting the phone.

Its a bit too easy unfortunately. I did it by accident once because of the way i was holding the Mini ;)

there is also another way, obtain task manager from PHM PPC Tools which has the suspend, reset and softreset options as part of the menus. No more fiddling with buttons etc...

Yeah I've got that. Works fine, but I have "adjusted" to doing the reset without wiping everything.
