Guest Exodia Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Until the battery reaches 100%, which will probably take less than 2 hours. If you dont want to power it up to check the battery status, watch the LED by the ear speaker, its amber while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
Guest mike-oh Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Make sure that the backup battery is fully charged to! To be on the safe side i would plug it in and leave it so for 8 hours. Don't be suprised that as soon as you plug it in it will switch on!
Guest MitchellO Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I charged mine after using it for about 1hr. The battery came almost fully charged in my brand new, never opened unit. No ill effects!! I couldn't wait!
Guest spvdk Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I guess we will never be 100% sure on the answer to this one, because there are so many different opinions out there. But the one I think sounds most realistic is this: Once upon a time, when nickel batteries was the order of the day, the first charge should be no less than 16-24 hours. That is not the case with modern lithium batteries, yet some people still hangs on to this procedure for no apparent reason (other than lack of knowledge?). Lithium batteries are shipped with a 40% charge, because fully charged or fully drained is not good for an extended period of time, like during shipping. This means that your battery will be partly charged when you receive it, but that is NOT to save you time charging. Only to extend the life of the battery. A complete charge of a lithium battery is somethink like 3 hours. After that, nothing more happens. This means that if you wanna play it safe, charge for 4 hours and off you go. You can play with your new toy right away, just make sure it is plugged in to the charger. ---------------- Remember this is what I have READ, nothing more and nothing less. Whatever you do with this info is up to you. Have fun with your new S100 ;)
Guest MitchellO Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Yeah, deep discharging as its called is not good for Li-Ion batteries. It is best to top it up when you can, and not wait till it dies before charging.
