Guest phillprice Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 (edited) I spent a few days playing around on the net finding peoples attempts at doing this and none were satisfying. Firstly some only searched one folder, others just looked for mp3 files, others just didn't plain work  So I stumbled across an article somewhere where it said you could make new Auto playlists in WMP 10, hmmm. So I gave it ago and documented it for my buddies at MoDaCo.... In WMP 10 (not sure about 9) if you right click on the Auto playlists heading and click new (as below) you'll get a box up (below ;)) Now for my music I've used DBPowerAmp to get a SPV version of it* Therefore I've chosen the BitRate Is 64 to reflect my music. I've also chosen the file type as WMA (as that's the 64 bit stuff I converted...) The last two are the most important though. When you add another rule to the top batch if you click "more you'll get a box with many more fields. In this case we want "Randomise Playback Order Next we want to make a limit of how much to get in the list, and therefore on the phone. It's all well and good hitting 512 for my 512 MiniSD. But this left some tracks not fitting. This irritated me, but was pretty irrelevant. Although on the Sync screen you'll see the space available (in total) on whatever card you use so round the number down to that and you're laughing. Now all you need to do is hit ok. Goto the sync screen and choose this auto paylist. Make sure you sync into a foldr on the card, or it won't caopy them all, I think it's something to do with the limit of files in the root of it, which seems VERY old school! *(smaller bitrate = more music ;)) I'm sure there are topics here to walk you through that, so I'll leave that bit, unless asked for desperately. I've also made another auto play list with tracks greater than 64 bit in rate to listen to on my pc, or i'll go mad! Edited April 27, 2005 by phillprice
Guest johnwin Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Thank you thank you thank you I kinda knew WMP10 could do this but did not invest the time to figure it out - your guide helped me do this :-)
Guest Sedul Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Hey, I tried syncing but somehow WMP 10 on my computer only sees the phone memory and not the storage memory (there is a few megs there) i don't have a miniSD card. but i figured it should sync wih thte /Storage folder
Guest sejjiin Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Here's a question - Does anyone know if it is possible to create a random auto playlist in WMP10, like described above, but to make the playlist fill with random (full) albums. I'm talking about a playlist of random full CD's rather than just random songs. Is this even possible with WMP10? It is possible with iTunes, but it is not as easy as you'd think it would be.
