Guest ParticleX Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 hello all, i just got a 256 mb card today and thought i'd install Lextionary. The problewm is that theres just about 5 mb of phone memory left and the active sync by default tried to install it in the phone memory as opposed to my intented storage card ( the option to choose the prefered location i.e phone memory or storage card only comes later- i tried out other smaller programs)and tells me ' there's not enough space'.Is there any way to install it directly in the storage card without having to delete/uninstall the files in the phone memory inorder to make space.thanks( the phone is O2 Xphone II).
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 You will need to uninstall the Lextionary app and reinstall it on the storage card. When installing via activsync you should always be given the option to install to storage card or phone. Generally you should always choose storage card to save space on the phone.
Guest ParticleX Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 That was fast! Anyway, i haven't installed Lextionary yet- i get an ' there is not enough space' message when i try to do that. The reason being the Activesync by default tried to install it in the phone memory. And , no, there is no option to install in the storage card- that part comes only after the Activesync is satisfied that there's enough room in the phone memory- then THE PHONE offers the option wheather i want to install it in the phone mem or the storage card.Active sync didn't offer the option.im using Activesync 3.8.0 build 5004
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 With the phone Activsync does not have a default install location assuch, that is a PocketPC option. There will be a reason for the lack of space and the error you are getting. This can be caused by having a lot of ringtones or emails\SMS etc.
Guest ParticleX Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 First of all, thanks for taking the time to respond to my little 'trivial' problem. 1. Im aware that my phone memory is quite full- there's only about 5 mb left while Lextionary requires about 8 mb. 2.Hence my original question- Is there any way to install the program directly in the storage card without the Activesync telling me ' there is not enough space' IN the phone memory? 3.My problem here is that the Activesync seem to 'look' ONLY in the phone memory and NOT in the storage card- which has alot of space. 4.Like i stated in the previous post, there is NO OPTION to select the installation path. The Activesync , it seems,is quite determined to ignore the storage card. 5.The option to select an installation path only comes after the Activesync have decided that there is enough space in the phone memory.

Guest ParticleX Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I guess there's no other alternative but to free some space in the phone memory by removing/uninstalling stufs inorder to 'satisfy' the Activesync.A very serious setback with windows mobile-smartphone ( or just the Activesync, perhaps), if you ask me....
