Guest Jumpie Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Ok, so I've been using my phone for several weeks now thanks to an awesome Cingular manager who actually got me the unlock code to use it. Don't ask, it was an extremely cumbersome process. So anyway, my phone has been working like a charm. I can hear unless I'm in a very loud environ, oh, i don't go to bars ;-), anyway....so far, the only issue I have is iTap....I'm trying to figure out a way for the phone to remember words I chose to use. example: instead of typing beer, I prefer to use the word "reeb". I know, it sounds childish. I have to continually change over to single letters instead of it "remembering". Is there a way to customize the dictionary or something? anyone with suggestions? thanks!

Try leaving it in iTAP mode, then spell the words out and once you have the word iTAP remembers it. Take Modaco for instance. My iTAP didn't have it at first, so this is what I did. When I typed M o d a, the phone gives me a suggested Modal. Instead of accepting the l, I typed c, so now I have Modac. Type the o and I have Modaco. Enter in a space at this point and the word Modaco is in the dictionary. If the combination doesn't pull up correctly at first push the down directional arrow and it will give you a different choice. If you keep pushing down and the combination you want doesn't come up, back up a letter or two (depending on the length) find the combination you want there and then continue to add the rest of the word. Let's do reeb. Hit 7, you get an S, push the down arrow, its now an R, push the 3, you now have an Re, push the 3 again, you now have a Red.uce, push the down arrow, on my phone I now have Rdf, down arrow, now I have Ref.erence, down arrow again, now I have Ree, that's what we're looking for, so now hit 2, if it doesn't give you a Reeb at first, down arrow until it does, then either enter a space (# key) or push the right arrow. You should now have reeb in your phone, I know I do, and i don't even use it. Make a note of that, I know how to enter the words... I don't know if there is a way to remove words once they are in there. ;) Edited April 28, 2005 by landrock78
Guest monkeygadge Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 So if you spell words out using "normal" txting 'abc' - Itap won't remember them??

Guest whealer Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Try leaving it in iTAP mode ... That seems to be my problem - I cant get it into iTAP mode... where do I enable that?
Guest Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 That seems to be my problem - I cant get it into iTAP mode... where do I enable that? I can't remember precisely as i haven't used my MPX220 for a while now. However, you press and hold either the '*' or '#' key to switch between the numeric ('123'), multi-tap ('abc') and iTap ('T9'). Also I think only iTap mode remembers words you enter that are not in the built in dictionary.
