Guest bigfootpete Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 I originally had this problem with my MPx200 but thought it was because I had the 2002 operating system. But now I get the same problem with my C500. I've got the options set to sync the next two weeks appointments only and I have outlook 2003 - do I need to upgrade activesync?
Guest bigfootpete Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Ok - I downloaded v3.8 of activesync but it made no difference...
Guest C00LH4ND Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Ok - I downloaded v3.8 of activesync but it made no difference... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BigfootPete, I had the same problem, I managed to dig myself out by removing the partnerships from activesync and chardresetting the phone. It took 2 hard resets but once I had established a new partnership my outlook sync'd fine. If unsure how todo a hard reset there are excellent instructions pinned in this forum.. Best O Luck C00LH4ND
Guest mossywell Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 ... and chardresetting the phone. It took 2 hard resets but once I had established a new partnership my outlook sync'd fine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably no need to hard reset the phone. I had may different problems with activesync and had to hard reset my phone as a result. I ended up writing a small application to run on the phone that cleans out the activesync configuration as if the phone had been hard reset. I've used it may times on my C500, no idea if it works on other phones, but it's written using the .net compact framework for smartphone 2003, so it should work on any smartphone 2003 device. Note that if you run it, it'll blast all partnerships from the phone but it leaves the inbox, contacts, tasks etc intact - they are just "disassociated" from activesync - as if they've been typed in manually in other words. It makes a fair number of registry changes, so it comes with all the usual disclaimers  However, if you're prepared to hard reset anyway, it can do any worse! (To be honest, I've used it dozens of times without problems, but I might just be lucky.) It is here: http://www.mossywell.com/downloads/#CleanActiveSync
Guest bigfootpete Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Actually to set up a new partnership, I think will work it you change the phone ident(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, IDENT - NAME) so changing it from SPV_C500 should make activesync think it's got a new partnership. (I discovered this on the MPx200, but had problems connecting with the new partnership), will try tomorrow to see if this works...
Guest mossywell Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Actually to set up a new partnership, I think will work it you change the phone ident(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, IDENT - NAME) so changing it from SPV_C500 should make activesync think it's got a new partnership. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True - ActiveSync on the PC will think that it's talking to a new phone. However, do bear in mind two things: 1. The ident can be used by any app to identify the phone so othet things might break. (Probably not a problem, but you never know.) 2. The phone will still think it has a partnership with the PC and all the old ActiveSync config will still be in there such as sync status, last sync time etc. I don't know if this will be a problem though. The best way I have found is just to clear out all the activesync config from both the PC and the phone (and change the ident back to the origname).
