Guest squall Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Strangely enough I was just wondering how much money Microsoft make from Windows Mobile the other night, after all the licence costs manufacturers pay to Microsoft cant be more than a few $ per device. The latest MS figures have been released, and profits for the Windows Mobile division (Mobile and Embedded Devices) are up 31% from 61 to 80 million dollars. It is likely the growth in Smartphone sales, as Microsoft based devices slowly win over market share, has had some effect on this rise, but it seems there has also been a big increase in revenue from other areas in this division such as Windows CE, Pocket PC's... [Edit by Paul: Tablet doesn't come under Mobile and Embedded as far as i'm aware...]
Guest Pondrew Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Right! I want some of that money back 8) Surely we the loyal Smartphone community (not forgetting Phone Edition) could be treated to a nice cash rebate or free software, or maybe tickets to Disney Land?! (yes I know I'm dreaming)...
Guest squall Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 futures rosy, afterall magneto gets launched soon, and ms aims when developing it were to increase market share by offering key features found on other devices.
