Guest The Undefeated Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 (edited) Ok, we need another nes emulator (well I want one), But the author of smartnes --- appears to have died    I have reason to believe that some people where working on nes emulators a while back but none ever seemed to be released. Now SmartNes is good and all but it still has problems and a few things need to be added - but of course the author has disappeared. So i am asking if anyone would be willing to make one. One idea would be to do what Spacemonkey did and port one from PPC (He used Pocket Snes) but for a nes emulator youd have to port something like Pocket Nes Another would be for anyone who was working on a nes emulator to blow the dust of their source code and get it up and running. (I have PM'ed one person but i have had no reply yet, although they did say they where working on a nes emulator 2 years ago. sooo, they may not come here anymore) I would make one myself but i have only a small amount of C# programming for PC's and of course smartphones use a smaller scaled down version of .net which is different. (I also cant seem to get a compiller for mobile devices to install on my computer it says im missing .net or something, even if im not) I mean i might be able to help but i just dont know. Well post any comments you have, start making/porting/blowing away the dust. And even if you cant make one, if enough people where to post maybe someone may feel the need to make one. Just so that you know how much C# i know here are a couple 'o' things i made: And if you want (or NEED) the sound files they will be in separate posts (only 5MB per post - see i cant even play MP3's i have to put up with big wave files instead)File_Encryption.zipGAME.zip Edited April 29, 2005 by The Undefeated
Guest The Undefeated Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Is there nobody whos intrested in another nes emulator?
Guest agent.m Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Is there nobody whos intrested in another nes emulator? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> why do we need another one??? my problem is now that i have my sda I dont really play many games as its not that good a device the same with c500. so unless this emulator provide a better way ie mapped to keys then i wont be getting too excited ;) but dont let that put you off ;)
Guest X-Phile Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 I think, I can help you. I have experience in C++, but not for WinCE. I wrote some console emulators (ADSP-2181, PIC12, PIC16) and, I think, I can port (not write - I had no many free time) one emulator. It can be InfoNES on PPC. There are many port of it to many OS'es. Write me to [email protected]
Guest lilkraz3nik Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 (edited) Yeh InfoNES would be great its ported to so many systems. According to them InfoNES is an open-sourced NES emulator, that runs on Win32, x86/Linux, PS2/Linux, WinCE(H/PC, P/PC, P/PC2002, l'genda, BE-300, BE-500), GBA(GameBoy Advance), GP32(GamePark 32), Zaurus/Linux, N-Gage(Nokia s60), OSASK, Pekoe, and PlayStation2. If you plan to create a NES emulator for embedded devices (i.e. Palm, Nokia 7650, SmartPhone 2002, etc.), InfoNES is one of the best choices. http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley/5604/infones/ Edited May 28, 2005 by lilkraz3nik
Guest The Undefeated Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 I see we have people willing to help yay ;) One problem, i only know C# and that is limited (growing all the time though) And i dont know anything about windows CE, All i know is it uses a scalled down version of the .NET framework. So if anybody who has knowledge of programming for windows CE would like to step in?? Anybody?
Guest djfuego Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 If you can make a new sid player with subtune support I think that would be more usefull on my C500
Guest lilkraz3nik Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 I was just researching for nes emulator and I found another option besides InfoNes. PocketNester seems like just as good option and according to the website its A fast NES/Famicom emulator for PocketPC! Features satisfying speed(30~50fps on 200Mhz XScale, dependent on games) and accurate emulation, especially good sound synchronization. PocketNester is based on nester, nesterce & unofficial nester. So yeh it opensource and ported to pocket pc heres the website for more info http://sourceforge.net/projects/pnester
Guest smeg36 Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 I use PocketNester on my Pocket PC, and it works great. I would love to see a working port to the Smartphone. I agree, it is high time for a new NES emulator to be developed. One that doesn't automatically save the game on exit, and allows for game saving at any point. And having playable speeds with sound would be a nice addition if possible.
Guest The Undefeated Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Well porting pocketnester would be a good idea, but we still need some-one who knows programming for windows CE. I mean, with a port i could probably do something, but i dont even have the necessary software, or the means to get it
