Windows Media Registry Tweaks

I've been on this forum for a while and I've learned a lot without posting here.

I ran into a problem yesterday afternoon after I installed PocketMusic v 2.0 and then decided to uninstall it after i saw that betaplayer was a better program to use.

My mp3 ringtones in the settings department werent loading up. After i was hitting "done" it wouldnt save my selection and my cell phone wouldnt play mp3 ringtones anymore. After reading everything possible over registry tweaking here in the forums...i decided to go ahead and attempt to fix the registry problem pocketmusic caused.

I went into PHM Registry Editor and opened up "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" and went down to ".mp3". I then hit "values" and added a string named "Content Type" with a "value data" of audio/wav. I also changed the "value data" on the "default" string to "mp3file"

I also noticed under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\MEDIAPLAYER\PLAYER\EXTENSIONS\" the extension ".mp3" was gone. I added the new key ".mp3" and the permissions and runtime values inside as well.

I heard of a few people having similar problems in the forum so i decided to try to solve it after i experienced it myself. All thanks to pocketmusic ;).

I didnt want to hard-reset...who knows what this is worth...just my two cents.

at least i got my mp3 ringtones back ;)
