Guest beersoft Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 try a safemode boot then antivirus/spyware scan worst case is a windows reinstall, and worst worst case is a format/reinstall later Owen
Guest afhstingray Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 yes yes i know, but i was wondering if anyone knew the name of this virus/whatever it is
Guest mupwangle Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 MIght not be a virus/spyware at all. My computer started doing something similar when I installed the last security update (I think it was MS-019-020, but I ain't sure) SInce it bust have you managed to get into windows at all? Hopefully not because you can press f8 on boot to the last known good configuration. (last successful login) Check the event viewer for errors. Have you made any changes (devices or software) before this all went pete tong? Have you got the XP system restore tool running (in which case you can roll back your configuration) I personally haven't heard of a virus that has those symptoms, but there are always new ones. Check with your mates to see if they've just installed the windows update.
Guest MECX Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I had a problem like this and it was actually the graphics card driver got stuck outputting through the TV out and not the VGA, to check this just right click on the desktop go to properties then settings, find the monitor settings and make sure the TVout is off. You could also just upgrade the graphics driver.
