Guest tronicx Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Hi guys - first post... Wicked forum btw, I signed up before getting my C500 on Thursday and have found tonnes of usefull apps and homescreen tips etc. Written my own already! ;) Anyways - After installing and customising the phone so much I then find Orange have released an update for it. Bugger. I'm sure there's one out there, but I haven't found it yet: I need a 'best-practice' guide / HOWTO on backing up the phone's current state (settings, customisations, installed applications etc). So when I do the update I can simple reinstate all the wonderful stuff. Thanks All - Jim.
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Welcome to the forum ;) Firstly, we're still waiting for the Orange UK update - I'd be inclined to wait for this rather than faffing about with the French one. Secondly, the best backup software comes from Sprite : http://www.spritesoftware.com/home.html
Guest tronicx Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Ahh - Thanks for the prompt response - I'll go checkout the backup software. The Orange update I was referring to is this one. Which apprently updates C500 to Operator [ROM] verison 4.1.1.1 - as mine only reports to have 4.1.1.0 I thought it might be a good idea to get it. Cheers -Jim
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 My understanding is that only the first 2 digits are relevant. The last one is a location code I believe. If you've just bought your C500 you should have the latest software.
Guest tronicx Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Ahh right, ok then. I was under the impression this was a general update as it includes protocol updates (like from GPRS v8 to v10) etc etc. I'll hold off for now then till I work out further details. For ref - I have the Silver C500 - Version 4.21.1088 J
