Guest Henk13 Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Hi guys! I own a Motorola MPX 200 and I am thinking of buying the MPX 220. I heard a lot of bad thing about the 220 (ie. volume very low, camera very very bad, 2 second delay answer...). and I was wandernig if all those firmware upgrades resolve all this bugs. I would appreciate if you "happy" owners can give me a hand to decide is it worty to by the MPX 220. I must point out that I want to change the MPX 200 because of the bluetoth and camera. I am planning to buy a clam shel phone so the MPX 220 looks the best option, unless ???? Thanks.

Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just bought one, here in the netherlands (holland, denk dat je ook uit die buurt komt niet dan:P) Allready own a mda compact and love it but also love my new mpx220 not as good as the mda but for a smartphone its really sweet, nice flash better then expected) and good picture quality (for a phone) my version is 4.21.1088 (build 14315.1.1.2). But then again got mine just one day now ;) It's just a really good phone. But it is rather large, mda compact is thinner than the mpx but also much faster (xscale 400mhz) and has good batt performance is only a bit wider. ladies do start to think there's something really big in my pants... luckly I've got a girlfriend that knows better  Go to the shop and c for your self.
Guest Paraklas Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I've got an mpx200, sp3i and an mpx220. I have to say I love the mpx220 more than the other two. Sound volume is LOUD, camera quality is more than adequate for a mobile phone (thanks to 1.25 firmware) and there is NO answering delay at all.

Just changed from an XDA II to an MPX220 and I've never regretted it. I'm a UK user. Don't know if there are major differences between handsets shipped on Cingular (is this a US network?) and UK versions. I've not encountered any serious problems so far (touching wood as I'm typing this!). Camera is much better than XDA II - it should be it's 1.3 mega-pixels as opposed to 0.3 mega-pixels. Signal strength is absolutely fantastic. On XDA II I was lucky to get two bars - more often 1. With MPX220 4-bar full strength is often the case. And, obviously, the size and style are a major plus. MP3s play without problems. I use PocketMusic AND have the equaliser activated and get very few clicks during playback and NO stuttering at all (unlike my E100 where using the equaliser use to stutter playback). Plus I can encode films using the same quality (just different screen size) as for the XDA II and they playback seamlessly using BetaPlayer. It's firmware 1.28 I have installed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this phone.
