Guest Rado Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 (edited) Hi everyone, I'm still just exploring my new Smartphone (Orange SPV C500) but I think that the Caller ID application is a little weird and to me it seems as if something was missing there - some kind of template or something. When I assign a photo to the contact, I have the option to choose it's position (left bottom, right bottom, etc) but it wil always overlap with the person's name and number as well as the orange ringing phone animation, as you can see in the screenshot attached (or below). When I click Menu, and select Options -> Display Settings for a contact, there is an "Display Style" option in addition to the position, but it will only let me select "Use photo only" - there is no other option in the list. The CallerID application is in the Orange folder, and came preinstalled on the phone, in the about box it says: Caller ID for Smartphone, Version 1.12 (build 18024), Copyright © 2000-2004 HTC. It has been like this since I have purchased the phone, so I guess that if something is broken, the Orange staff in the local shop must have been playing with the phone before they sold it to me. Also, I don't know how to check if the phone is app-locked, but I could install everything I have tried so far. The unsigned apps will just show a warning that "The program comes from an unknown source and may not be trustworthy" asking me if it should proceed, so I guess it also came app-unlocked, as I didn't do anything to unlock the phone... Thanks for any ideas in advance! Rado PS: For some reason I'm unable to attach the screenshot to this post, everytime I try to attach a file, the "Post New Topic" or "Submit Modified Post" button becomes inactive ;) I have uploaded the screenshot to my website and added a link instead. Guest martin Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Try the following and rescale the photo to 96x72 as this worked OK for me. Open caller ID application, Highlight a contact and Click Assign Photo. Choose any photo and click Next. Click Menu-Display Settings Display Style: Use photo only Position: Lower left Size (WxH pixels): 96x72

Am I supposed to first download some templates for this, or should the phone come with some templates preinstalled? I'm just trying to understand how this works and if it's broken or if it's supposed to be like this on a new phone. Thanks, Rado
Guest martin Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Yep, I had display style set as 'Use photo only'. I can also use a template and the photo is automatically re-sized. Basically save a template (pit file) to \Storage Card\IA Caller ID Photos Display style : Use template Template: (template name) How to fit photo : Smart fit Photo size: 82x62 I haven't tried too many templates but I find that some work better than others.
Guest Rado Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Thanks for all the information. One more question - is there any site with decent PIT templates for caller ID? I have checked all PIT files at www.lemondeduskin.com but didn't really like any of them.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Try these pit files, may not be what you are looking for but maybe worth a try. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=203051
Guest uzumaki_79 Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Where did they go? Try these pit files, may not be what you are looking for but maybe worth a try. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=203051 <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Click on the 'View File' link. Most of those on this forum were in the old IA Style section which was discontinued after that company was swallowed by HTC. For a better selection go to lemondeduskin.com ;)

Guest extravagant Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 MS really needs to integrate a better program with more options! Infact, they should make it xml so u can chose what appears on the screen, including other phone numbers and other contact information!
