I know that seems like an odd description, but when I press the menu button (in any section of the phone, ie games, contacts etc, it makes an odd clicking sound, sounds like interference, its very odd, key presses are turned off.

Is this a fault?

Its a newish SPV C500.

Can any offer any advice as it it back to HTC to sort out?

If you've set Keypad Control to None then it's definitely a fault.

I would send it to HTC if you don't have Orange cover

If you've turned the key clicks off, then that's my only idea out of the window! I know you can change the noise each key makes in the registry, but unless you've been playing I think we can discount that!

My advice would be to try a hard reset in case it's a software issue. If this doesn't fix it then it's a hardware problem and you need to get straight back on the phone with Orange. While it's possible to send the phone to HTC for them to repair, why should you have to? If it's faulty and new it goes back to Orange - no question!

Good luck with that mate.

If you are sure all your settings etc are correct you should try a hard reset before sending it back as it could be a registry glitch.

Hi

Thanks for your replies. To me it sounds like interference, very odd sound.

Anyway can someone point me to the direction of how to do a hard reset please?

If that doesnt work and as the phone is only a month old, Ill go back to where I got it from and speak to them first.

Thanks

Catherine

That's definitely not sounding normal. Either give Orange a call (on 150) and report it as a fault, or if you'd prefer take it back to the shop you bought it from and they should sort it out.

One quick thing - Orange should send you a replacement phone when they come to collect yours (so you're not phone-less) but they can take some persuading if it's not a "recognised" fault. The shop should help sort it out (plus you can shout in the shop in front of other customers, which always seems to get you served quicker) but they'll probably take your phone away for investigations for a week or two.

Your choice, and good luck. [-o<
