Guest alex_gregory_uk Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I have just got a BT77 bluetooth GPS receiver, followed instructions on here but hasn't worked. This is what i have done: Installed totom mobile, then installed traffic plugin. I then went to bluetooth settings and paired my phone with the BT77 using passcode 0000. Renamed it to TomTom Wireless GPS, went to com ports and added an incoming port to the BT77 on com 7, and added an outgoing port on com 6, both secure connections. I went into bluetooth settings and unticked Autication (Passkey) required. It all seems to be working fine. Then i go and start ttgpsen.exe, which opens the grey satelite. I went back to check if the TomTom Wireless GPS was still in the Bluetooth devices, which it is. So i returned and opened tomtom mobile. Went to GPS settings and it said no GPS device. I pressed trhe home key and looked at bluetooth devices and it had gone. Exited tomtom and still the TomTom Wireless GPS had gone. So in short when i load tomtom it deletes the TomTom Wireless GPS. Have i done something wrong? Any ideas? Could someone who has successfully done it give me a step by step guide? Many thanks in advance.

This explanation might not seem completely logical, but it did work :-) The resolution, from memory, was not to pair with the GPS until after you set the COM7 serial port as an OUTBOUND serial port. You don't need an inbound one at all. So delete your GPS pairing and uncheck both the incoming and outgoing serial ports and press DONE. Then re-boot your phone and go to the BT serial port config again. Check the Outbound COM7 checkbox and press done. On the C500, this immediately moves you to the add BT device area. Go ahead and re-pair the GPS. After that, Run TomTom and it should work (it did for us).
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Why not use the original gps unit that came with the software?
Guest alex_gregory_uk Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Why not use the original gps unit that came with the software? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cos I broke my tomtom GPS receiver when i dropped it and I couldn't afford a tomtom, so bought a BT77 from ebay a lot cheaper. I have tried what you reccomended irvsys, but my c500 is on the latest french rom so you can not set the outgoing port, until the phone has a bluetooth pairing. Could the rom version be the problem with it not working? It's so annoyingly close that tomtom mobile must be recognising the GPS receiver as it deletes it when it is named as TomTom Wireless GPS.

The one I did was the standard UK Orange ROM. I have read other posts about people having problems with the French ROM and TomTom in other parts of these forurms.
