Guest jporch316 Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I wondered why ive never had an answerphone message since getting the C500. Checked my voicemail - 12 messages. Now on Vodafone I was able to choose an alert via text message or alert via call. This alert came regardless if there was already an existing message in there and would regularly remind me when a message hadnt been picked up. Is this possible on Orange. It must be as i am able to receive text messages to alert me to missed calls (pointless). I have searched through the answerphone menu but nothing.

Guest mossywell Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 You should get an SMS notice on the screen (not a phone call from Orange like Vodafone do). However, this doesn't always work either... When I first joined Orange many years ago (when phones were large bricks) , this used to happen to me once a week. It got less and less frequent and only happens now once every 12 months or so (i.e. no notification at all of any messages). Here's what will happen when you call Orange CS: Customer: I haven't been getting notifications of voicemail messages, but when I dialled the voicemail, it said I had X messages. CS Rep: It souds like your voice mail thing needs resetting, hold on.. [Two SMS messages later..] CS Rep: There that should have fixed it. You'll get notification of voicemail messages from now on. Customer: That's it? What about the call from a potential customer that offered me a ten million pound contract if I called them back within the day? Lost business? CS Rep: Sorry. I'll speak to my supervisor to see if we can offer you a £5 good will voucher... Customer: I don't care about £5, I want to know that it'll never happen again! (Note: if you're feeling particularly litigous, something like "I'm going to sue your bottom...." might be more appropriate.) CS Rep: Er, it shouldn't happen again... ](*,) You get the picture.
Guest chucky.egg Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I had this on my E100 and E200, and everyone swore blind it was a network thing. My bum! Haven't had it on my C500 (checks voicemail just to be sure), but AFAIK there is no real solution to it if it happens, and you can't fix it yourself.
Guest mossywell Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 .. and you can't fix it yourself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, you can - well, at least I have managed to myself. All you have to do is leave a message for yourself, then dial in and delete all the messages that you have. This seems to reset things to get them working again. Re C500, I don't think I've had the problem since having my C500 either - about 4 months now.
Guest jporch316 Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Maybe ill set a reminder on my phone to remind me to check my voicemail once a day. Oh, hang on - sometimes my reminders dont go off. Doh

One other thing suggested a while back was to wait a few seconds before you disconnect your call to Voicemail, that way the phone and network are in sync...
Guest jporch316 Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Aha Used the tip above and now when I get voicemail i get the little tape icon Cheers
