Guest scottjk Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 This is a repost of a question I had on another forum. Hopefully someone will have had a similar experience and can help me. I purchased a SMT5600 from EBAY that was unlocked and I use it with T Mobile. I used Abatis's T Mobile GPRS setup cab that worked great. The problem is that on my old MPX200 I could hit the end key twice and disconnect from GPRS. I can't do that with the SMT5600. The little G over the signal strength meter is constantly on. I also occasionally get a beep and data error during phone conversations. Another user told me that the SMT5600 always has that little g over the meter on. I have to disagree. The big G in the middle means available, where as the little g means connected. I believe my bettery is suffering because of this problem. I'm only getting 2 days standby. Thanks Scott :-({|=
Guest grumpy_old_technobyte Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 try turning the flight mode on/off. that'll make the "lil G" over your antennae bar disappear.
Guest djpfine Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I used Abatis's T Mobile GPRS setup cab that worked great. What is this and where can I find it? Does it help setup an unlocked 5600 for complete use on T-Mobile?
Guest scottjk Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 It use to be on MPX200.org but that site seems to be down. I found an easier way to do it though. Visit the following link and choose the MPX220 as your phone. It will send the settings to your phone automatically. Works great on the SMT5600. https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/tmo...US/ota_support/ Scott What is this and where can I find it? Guest argh Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 If you hold down the home key for a couple of seconds, a menu pops up that lets you disconnect GPRS (at least it does on the C500) - does this work for you?

Guest scottjk Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 On the 5600 if you hold down home, it opens up internet explorer favorites! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yesterday I decided to hard reset the phone and then delete all the certificates that came pre installed. I don't know which fixed it, but I no longer get the 'trying to connect data error' anymore. I also found a reply that said the little G stays on the SMT5600 so that the next time you connect it is quicker. According to this guy the battery life shouldn't suffer if the phone is not sending and receiving data. I'll post the link as soon as I find it again. Scott ;)
