Guest cjstedman Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Hi, My Smartphone 2 is stuck on the Headset profile. I used the hands free headset the ohter day and I cannot get it to go back to Normal or Silent. It just wonr shift. I have done a hardware reset and still no good. Any ideas??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 try blowing in the headphone socket or another thing to try is to poke a cocktail stick in the socket as this fault can be hardware related and in more severe cases can be perminant and require the phone to be sent off for replacement\repair.
Guest pierre Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Strange, I just got the same problem the other day, and I thought it was hardware related. But it got fine after hard-resetting the phone. I got a C500.

I had this and had to send off my E100 for warranty repair.
Guest FATGOONER Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 My C500 is also stuck in headset mode and i have had no luck blowing or with the cocktail stick. Going to do a hard reset but i really want to keep my text messages could anyone please tell me if this is possible and how to go about it? much appreciated.
Guest pierre Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 You can use Sprite to do a full backup, though it's not free. I don't see the need to send my phone for repair if a hard-reset fixes it all.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 There are a few ways to backup your messages ranging from freeware app called SMS2mail and commercial apps like SMS Cool and jeyo companion http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp

However, you may find the problem becomes permanent and blowing in the socket or hard-resetting won't fix the problem. At which point, returning the phone is the only option. Unless you're brave enough to open the case yourself.

I conclude it was not a hardware but a software problem or anything else I don't know...
Guest smith2001 Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 this was also the problem with mine, stuck in headset mode. i beleive it was due to me using the phone alot as an mp3 player, i hard reset the phone thinking i might sort it, the first attempt it never then i found this post and blew in the jack and then hard reset again, its now in normal mode but will not go back in to headset mode. oh well the lesser of 2 evils i think
Guest smith2001 Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 well tried the cocktail stick trick and alot of dust came out with it. works all fine now. can use my phone as mp3 and then take the headphones out and it works as a phone once more. cheers for all the tips guys smith
