Been having problems with my c500 basically it has been fine for three weeks after unlocking it at HTTP://www.c500-unlock.com but now it has been locked out and i can no longer receive or make calls.

After speaking with an engineer from HTC Europe he said it is because i have unlocked it illegaly so Orange have barred the phone from working, Does this sound normal.

The day before the phone stopped working i app unlocked it on the orange website would this cause them to lock me out??????

Firstly ive never heard of orange locking the phone because you unlocked it. As far as i know they cant do it for that reason.

Theres also no reason app unlocking would cause this.

If you bought the phone second hand its much more likely that the phone was reported lost or stolen. It normally takes orange a few weeks to catch up and barr the phone on there system

Fair enough but i bought the phone from ebay but as a brand new phone it had all the software cables plastic on the phone the lot so it had never been used at all the guy who sold it just said it was an unwanted upgrade!!

Would it be poss for me to have messed with a setting in the phone which stopped it working???

the only thing that it could be would be fight mode.

when the phone is switched on dab the power button then scroll down to flight mode, it should be off.

Its very possbile the phone was sent out as an upgrade by mistake then the guy sold it...

It happens more than you would think.

I would speak to the person you bought it from again

Fair enough that makes sense because nothing else seemed to ring true to the fault, i will email the guy.....dont think he will be very helpful to be honest...

To get the phone working again are HTC Europe the best repair people to use??

Sorry tonythedude, even if it was still sealed up they will ban the imei if the phone was stolen in a burglary  . I should know i've bought "unwanted upgrades" of e-bay before. so i would ring orange customer services give them the imei number and ask them if it was stolen. If it it was i would then inform e-bay of the sellers id and tell them he is selling stolen phones, and if you're lucky and paid by credit card or paypal. you MAY be entitled to your money back. try it!...you never know. good luck and all my sympathy:

HTC cant do anything with a phone barred by a network, the only people who could unban it are orange, but they wont unless the issue is sorted.

Im going to guess it was sent out by mistake, so orange would only unbar it if they got it back!

sorry to bring bad news

PayPal have a 30 day limit fro reporting problems - get your dispute lodged with them straight away - don't wait until you've got all the facts, it could be to late.

Hope you get it sorted.

Good luck.
