VPN Data Connection

Hi Just a quick question if I go to Settings -> Data Connections -> Edit connections I have a section marked VPN Connections, with nothing in it. What is a VPN connection exactly?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.

A VPN connection allows access to a private network via a public network, so for instance if you wanted to access you work servers via the internet you would generally use a VPN connection.

The mobile network operators can give a VPN service to a mobile user using the GPRS network but this usually needs a specific APN (Access Point Name).
