Guest djpfine Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 (edited) I just bought my used SMT5600 and noticed yesterday that my fully charged battery died in under 24 hours. I charged the phone again overnight, and already today my battery is down to 87% after only 2 hours of use (15m of web browsing and 0 voice calls). I tried a hard reset last night, but that doesn't seem to have worked. The only programs that I have installed are BatteryMonitor 2.0 and Alarm Set. Is there anything I can do to try and get this battery functioning properly? If not, how much does a brand new battery cost and where can I buy one? I'm really loving this phone, but the horrid battery life is just killing me... Edited May 5, 2005 by djpfine

Your battery came like that brand new and you've just been living with it? One of the reasons I switched from my T-Mobile Sidekick to the SMT5600 was because I was sick of having to charge the SK every night or having it die midway through a working day. I'm assuming the batteries for the C500 and SMT5600 are exactly identical, correct?
Guest om1 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Do you have bluetooth running all of the time? That can drain a battery. I have also noticed in some areas that I do not get a signal at all (some of the buildings that I work in) will drain the battery , because it is always searching for a signal and sometimes will take a long time to get a signal after bringing the phone out to an area where a signal should be found. In contrast to my v600 which will let you select the speed in which is searches for a signal (lower setting will result is longer time spans between searches, higher setting, will increase the search time) It could be the battery as well, which had already been mentioned, but sometimes no matter what phone you are using you get some instances of short battery life that is not a direct result of the battery having some kind of failure. when you look at the battery after a full charge, what does it say? 99% or 100% Are you using the charger directly? Or are you using the usb cord and letting it charge on your computer or laptop? Perhaps if it is the charger that you are using that may also be the problem. There have been problems with chargers in the past that would emulate problems that some may find if they have a faulty battery. Guest djpfine Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 (edited) That's a good point - signal strength in my office is very weak, so perhaps that's leading to decreased battery life. I'll monitor things again this weekend to see what it's like. Bluetooth is permanently off. When my battery charges, it shows 99%, not 100% - does that mean anything? Edited May 6, 2005 by djpfine
Guest evans.rhys.gavin Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 my c500 battery was brilliant when i first had it in october, but the last 3-4 months im having to charge it every day, with only a few calls and a bit of mp3 listening each day it is a terrible battery, best bet is to go onto ebay buy a spare and carry it round with you
Guest argh Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I have pretty good battery life with my C500. One thing I did find is that some applications, if left running, can drain battery life quite a bit for some reason. Mobipocket seemed to be one such culprit, seeming to drain half the battery overnight if left running in the background.
Guest tFelix Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 mine one can use for 1.5 days to 2days max... if i watch video and WMA almost the whole day...then is run out in 12 hours :|
