Guest aRuCaRd_esp Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Hello everyone!, Well i've found a nice site to borrow batteries but i'm not sure wich one is better, could you guys help me out?? These are the two batteries: - Akku mit max. 1700 mAh LI-ION - Akku mit 1200 mAh LI-POLY
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 What are the prices? Li-poly is technically better then Li-ion but my decision would be based on price and ideally more detailed technical specs than just a picture.

For me it's very strange that the 1700mAh on is cheaper than the 1200mAh that's why I distrust the 1700mAh one...
Guest tendomentis Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 As much as I want to just order two of the LiPoly's right now, I have to think that since Motorola never released a LiPoly pack for the MPx200 that there has to be something odd about this. My experience with the "higher capacity" third-party batteries is that they either don't hold a charge for as long as their lower capacity OEM batteries and that they tend to make the phone (eventually) lose its mind. I've watched two different MPx200's sit with their screen flashing black and red until I popped out the third party battery and put in an OEM battery. What do you think awarner?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Li-poly are more expensive to make hence the price difference. As for the phone playing up, it's possible if the voltage is not exactly 3.6v or within the recommended operating parameters of the phone and it can then conflict with the voltage over protection device on the phone and possibly cause the effects you have seen.
Guest aRuCaRd_esp Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 you mean that the li-poly could explote?? :|
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 The battery should be safe to use as long as it is of decent quality. What I mean as that with non standard voltages you can get problems from the phone not booting to system crashes. It all depends on the circuitry design and the nature of the battery.

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 For the price I would give the Li-ion a go, but remember all non standard batteries have probably not been thoughly tested compaired to the MPX200 originals. Personally would go for the Li-ion but would be interested in testing both so see how they perform.
Guest aRuCaRd_esp Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Thanks for your info!!! I'll go fot the li-ion, since i'm just a student and very short on cash i'll buy only one^^ but anyways there will be a collective order (me and more or less 25 pple more) and i supose someone will buy the li-poly to test it, I can inform you wich one is working better if you want so... ;)
Guest Dirk Pitt Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Yes, please, when you get it share your impression with the rest. I also wanted to order the 1700 mAh right away but the delivery price turned out to be 50 euro. To much for a 9.90 euro battery. So, now I can only wait for your feedback and find some 25 mpx200 owners to share the delivery price with.

Although i'm not an expert :P, but i can say if the battery last much more then the original one or not ;)
Guest aRuCaRd_esp Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 well, finally I got the battery, at the momnt i'm very disappointed, but the first charged the battery won't last much time, i hope it will improve by the time...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Did you leave it on charge for a while? Li-ion like to have a condition charge and so I would charge it overnight and see what happens.
Guest exupery Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Well, almost three weeks without any further experiences? Are they worth buying them or not? From an 1700mAh batteries I expect at least two times of the lasting power of the original cell with 820mAh. Are they close to this or only slightly better than that? -- thanks and regards, exupery

I didn´t make a first 20 hour-recharge (only until the MPX says "full") but I think the standby time is not better than the original motorola battery. (less than 3 days without excesssive use). I could realize the same standy time with the moto battery, maybe more. :?: This battery has never real 1700 ! Maybe it is useful as an replacement pack if you can get it for a low price. Regards

If I will need replacement batteries before getting a new phone I will think about the long living ones ;-) -- thanks, exupery
