Guest tonythedude Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Going back to my problem with my c500, after many phone calls and much messing around i have found out that my three week old c500 had been barred by orange!!!!! This happened after the previous owner lost his phone and phoned orange to cancel the sim card......which is fine but the prople at Orange also barred my C500...... My question is that after getting in touch with the previous owner he managed to ring Orange and get them to lift the BARRING..... 48 hrs later the phone is still not working!!! Orange say it is definatley no longer barred so why would it not be working still????? Does not make sense, before it was barred it was working fine now it is not working at all!!!!! Any help please!!!!

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 You can not change the IMEI unless you wat to break the law and the network would certainly not do it either. As for unblocking the phone only the registered user can do this and as the handset was reported lost the phone as well as the SIM would be barred. What has unfortunately happened in the past is that some people have tried the "I've lost my phone" so they can get another handset from their network which enables them to get a free replacement unit depending on contract and then to try and sell the old phone. This is basically insurance fraud and it has been repoted here a number of times in the past especially when the first SPV was released. If this has happened (hopefully not) and the original owner had a replacement under contract\insurance etc then the old phone if "found" again would have to be returned to the network as it belongs to them and not the person who lost it.
Guest Rigsta Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Have you paid your bill? ;) j/k Not to be Captain Obvious here, but if they're saying it's not longer barred but it actually is, try and talk to the same person each time, and tell them that despite what their computer screens may tell them, it IS STILL BARRED. Might be a good idea to tell them the full story as well (including who you bought the handset from), they might just be sympathetic.
