Design Homescreen - help wanted

Hi there,

Still being a "newbie" in Smartphone, I'd like to have a "homescreen" with toe following features.

- a smaller Windows last used icon bar

- time & date (without an extra line for an operator

- calendar (next todo will be ok), one or two lines

- Tasks (one or two lines)

- alarm (selectable, settable with "snooze" function)

- message center (sms, emails,mms in just one line) example: SMS (2) Email (11) MMS (1) when zero, don't show up

How do can I produce such a Homescreen. Since everything but the alarm is - imho - standard, one supposedly needs to change some settings somewhere.. Question Which? Where?.

The Alarm needs to be provided using a program I think, does anyone know a program (like PT travel alarm on ppc) that could do that. And, how could this program be part of homescreen?

I'm not sure about the alarm thing - I don't know of any alarm plugins that allow you to set snoozes or anything, but you can get the alarm time diaplyed using RichieM's plugin.

To learn about making homescreens, just use the forum search function to answer questions you may have (you'll be very unlikely to come across any difficulties that have not been answered a million times before on modaco), and try taking xml from a homescreen you like, and mess about with the code. Change x, y values, colours, look at background images and how they fit together etc etc. That really is the best way to learn. Feel free to copy any of my xml files you like! ;)

And if you find problems you can't answer with a search of the forums, then you can come back & ask for help.

Try Homescreen Designer. Will do most of that using an easy to use pc based programme. Got this at the weekend. Costs $12 but thats not alot these days.

I use the HIL alarm plugin for my homescreens. Using this, users of my homescreens can change the alarm setting directly on their homescreen!

There is, however, no "snooze" function. But hey, it's one step on the way. ;)

You can see a link to the homescreens I've posted here to Modaco in my profile - take my XML and steal whatever you want. :D

There's no magic in it - but remember, HIL alarm plugin is a necessity! ;)
