Hi...

well first if mods feel this topic belongs to games forum feel free to move it there!

but anyway the current state of this emulator does anything good but games!

So

This is a dos emulator mostly based on Will Wall's pDosBox which itself based on DosBox.

Anyway this program runs on my smartphone 2002,i think it might also work on 2003 too!

the current speed is very bad you cant do almost anything..but maybe good thing for showing nokia friends!

Me and will are trying to make it faster and also minmize the memory requirement of software,but our only hope is it work faster on 2003 phones so it worth our efforts!

YOU CAN NOT TYPE ANYTHING BUT NUMBERS SO BEFORE RUNNING THIS THING MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE WAY TO CLOSE IT,LIKE WINDOWS CE REMOTE PROCESS VIWER!

command "1" will also make it exit!

beside can somebody test to see if core=simple is faster than core=normal!

also in 2003(if it works)i think you can increase the value of cycles,see how far you can go!

regards

roozbeh

Very cool to have Dos on my smartphone, too bad it's doesn't do anything but C:.

I tried to start the infamous game CAT.exe by adding it to the dosprogram directory and adding CAT.exe to the autoexec.bat.......result: a black screen.

I've also tried to edit the mapper.conf, after that the DOSbox crached. Any change your are gone release a working smartphone mapper.conf???

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

edit the conf file

schweitz:

the black screen is not necessarily bad. I managed to run The clue, and had to wait for like 10 seconds to see any change in the black screen. It works fine after it finishes loading though.

If it only was possible to rotate the screen...

*sigh*

You could open it in e.g. windows notepad.

I tried this emulator on the SPV c500 and run the dos version of Civilization. Worked fine which was a happy surprise! Although it runned very slow and there is currently no interface. Hope this nice app gets improved. ;)

Anyway i myself is very intrested in this program;but is anybody happy with it?

keyboard working is almost done....but the main problem which is speed still remains!

maybe in better devices it works better!

but no updates until i saw some ppl willing to have it!

I am happy! And willing. And will be even happier if I could test it with keyboard input.

If I run it without screen rotation it is working quite fast (faster than on ipaq 1940) but the screen is so squeezed it is hard/impossible to read any text. I didn't manage to run it in fullscreen(landscape) mode without loosing around 20 pixels on each side. And it is somewhat slower then.

I really hope to see some updates.

I too would be very interested in spvDosBox being further developed to use some old Dos language tutorials (flashcards etc) while on the move.

Well lots o' people seem interested, but my main concern is that you still wont be able to play the games properly, especially on the C500 (keypress issues and whatnot) But that doesnt mean we shouldnt try ;)

mostly just an observer here but this really intrigues me, but I am having problems with it, ok everything flies fine except I can't get to a C:\ prompt only Z:

EDIT

I was retarded.....

Keep up the great work on this program hopefully it will evolve into something great, not that it isn't amazing now...

How can I map keys like shift and ctrl to the numbers?

there isn't a config for this yet.

It works with old dos games :) Slow but it works

For each program or game there needs to be a config with specific key mapping..

eg:

[Commander Keen 4]

file=keen4e.exe

ctrl = 1

shift = 4

Y = 0

Space =2

also a combination keypress like Ctrl+X = 5

I wonder how it works on QVGA WM5 Smartphone.... will give it a try soon :)

OK, mnaged to get it running on QVGA screen. Attached is my cfg file.

It looks great, the only problem is that it's not on the whole screen, it does not fill the right part of the screen and playing with resolution settings doesn't work, screen is always same size, "almost" full screen.
