Hi,

I have just received an Mpx200 from a seller on ebay. It has been unlocked but seems to still have all of the orange branding / programs. Is this normal?

I have put an o2 PAYG sim in and I can receive calls and answer them but get an error when I try to make a call.

When I try to run some of the software on the phone (camera, task manager, etc) I get an error that says it is not trusted.

Also, when I go to phone settings it just has a list of numbers (1, 3, 94, 1). It sounds to me like something is corrupt

Should I perform a 'Hard reset'?

Will I loose the orange back-up / update programs? I have looked through the cd that came with the phone and these are not on it.

If I do reset, will it still be unlocked?

Thank you for any advice you can offer,

Alex.

Welcome to the forum ;)

Okay, here's what I know :

For O2 PAYG have a look in the Articles section for the Settings Repository.

Also this thread might be of help :

If your phone is SIM-unlocked it will still have the original Orange software which is contained in the phone's ROM.

The "not trusted" warning is telling you that your phone is application locked. You need to remove this to run unsigned software. Click on Quick Links in my sig for instructions relating to the MPx200.

Your settings problem suggests you do need to hard reset - always a good idea with a second-hand phone. Again, instructions at the above link. The MPx200 is tricky so don't give in if it doesn't work the first time. Or the 28th time....

After you hard reset, the SIM will still be unlocked. I would expect the Orange apps to still be there. You will of course lose your Contacts, SMS etc so make sure you have them synced with Outlook first.

Hope this helps ;)
