Got a letter from Orange yesterday. Wildfire is dead ;). As of the end of May, Wildfire users are being moved back the Answer Phone (at least I presume it's universal and not just poor lil' me!!). So no more voice activation (apparently that being the 'only difference' - well duh!).

The sweetener - £4/month discount until your next upgrade. Not bad, compared to some things in the past, but nevertheless I am not impressed. I don't want £4/month back, which on my Premier tariff is hardly a lot - I want the Wildfire!! I see no reason to be moving people off a really fantastic service, but what can you do? Nevertheless, some poor supervisor at OCS will have an unaswerable call from me tomorrow!

Anyone internal know of the reasons behind this?? (And most importantly, are they continuing for customers with special needs - if they are, they must have the tech, so I see no reason not to leave people on it).

I guess for the amount of money it costs them to run and administer the service, they are not making enough money back to make it worthwhille - i.e. not enough people are using the service.

Another facet of Snook's Orange Wirefree World is whittled away

:-(

It was a sad day when he left, and the sad days seem to continue.

My letter says, and I quote:

"As a thank you for continuing to choose Orange, we will give you £4 off your total bill eveyr month until you next upgrade your phone. The credit will automaticaly be applied to your account from your June bill date."

Did you also pay the £10 connection charge?

Yes I paid the £10 but there is no mention of a discount my brother got a letter as well and he has no discount. I am on Select 500 and he is on another OVP contract.

I'm on Premier 600, but I can't believe that's the reason. Very odd.
