Guest poopstah Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Greetings, new user here. I did a lot of reading on this site before deciding to purchase my phone so I have to give thanks to everyone who supplied questions and answers to help me make a good choice. This phone came locked to AT&T, with 2002 and no firmware. I did a firmware change first using ben....12.img and am waiting to receive some software for a sim unlock, however, I'm worried that my phone might be bunked, it says SIM Failure, Insert SIM - Emergency Calls Only, and I can't leave that screen, anyone know if that is normal? Anyway here's to a great piece of technology which i hope to be using for quite some time to come. Cheers ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Welcome to the site ;) The SIM error is a common problem with 2003 and the only solution can be to downgrade to 2002 again.

Guest poopstah Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 my phone still locks up at the "Emergency opration only" "insert sim card" screen, is this a problem with the rom or phone?

Guest poopstah Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 ronny, I tried the paper and although it did seem my sim card was smaller than it should have been. it did not fix my problem. It could be that my phone is not yet Sim Unlocked. Instead of using the site that everyone here uses I bought something from someone on eBay, which I hope works but is taking a long time to arrive in the mail. My friend had an AT&T sim card, which should have been "deactivated" when he got his new phone but I borrowed it from him and put it into my phone and it still gave me the "Emergency Calls Only" sim error. I guess I'll have to wait until my sim unlock softawre comes in the mail =( Does anyone know if it is detrimental (aside from voiding the warranty) to flash the rom over and over again? In the past two days my efforts to fix this phone have led me to flash it a dozen times or so, and I'm wondering if my phone will suffer in the long run. Again, thanks in advance for any insight you can give.
