I'm on an unlocked SMT5600 on T-Mobile. I've read the threads, and followed the guides, and by chance I was able to get Gmail to work for about a day. After that, it was really spotty - it either worked and downloaded only the headers (despite me instructing the phone to download the complete message) or didn't work at all.

For the past few days, it hasn't been working at all. I've tried all sorts of suggested settings (with ports, w/o, with different ports, etc.) and none of them seem to work. Most of the time it will get stuck on "Receiving Headers" for a long while, then either stay there forever, collect none of my mail and disconnect itself, or display a "Timed out waiting for a response from the server, try again." message. I've also tried using internet pass through but to no avail.

Funny thing is, I seem to be sending email just fine. I just can't receive.

My old device had a full keyboard and push email...so it's killing me that I'm walking around email-less on my 5600. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do?

Thanks in advance.

Just tried and get the same problem with GMail - all my othert accounts work fine and GMail used to work so maybe it's a problem at their end?

Perhaps...too bad I use Gmail as my only/primary email account. Hope it's fixed soon.

Would using it via the web browser be any use, or does it have to be POP?

In the beginning, you couldn't access it with mobile devices, but you can now, and that is how I access it, and it works fine, although I am using a Jam at the moment, and haven't tried it on SP3/5600.

HTH.

I suppose a web browser would would in a jam, but I definitely want to get email working so that I can read/reply on the train/etc. where I might not be getting any service. That's a huge part of my daily commute.

Any other suggestions?

Fraid I've no other suggestions, though if you don't have a signal, could that be the problem? :?:

That was just one example...and in those cases, I check email before losing signal so that I have them with me for the trip. I've been testing it out regularly on full signal to no avail.

I was only kidding ;-)

The only other thing I can think of, if you can't use it via PIE, would be to have all mails forwarded to another account, and read them via that account, but I think that would probably be too much of a faff.

Apparently not being able to receive Gmail has also robbed me of any sort of humor I had left ;)

Thanks for the suggestions...I might try a hard reset soon to see if that helps.
