Guest kepster Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Hi, first post so hope this is the right forum area! My final year project for my computing degree is to develop multiplayer games for smartphones running Windows Mobile (or whatever they're calling it now) communicating via Bluetooth. Can anyone please recommend which smartphones or other devices support the use of custom c# applications, I've found the specifications on some I've looked at to be confusing. Oh, and they need to be compatible with UK networks. Cheers, Matt
Guest Tunney Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 (edited) I'm sure there's some very clever people who can help you further, but as I recall you won't have much joy trying to create a bluetooth multiplayer game for Windows Smartphone. I know that a number of games that have been ported from Symbian to Windows Smartphone have had their bluetooth multiplayer option removed due to licensing issues with the Bluetooth stack. I believe that most Windows Smartphones use a non-MS Bluetooth stack and getting access to the APIs costs serious money. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know of a bluetooth multiplayer game for Windows Smartphone? Either way, good luck with your project! Edited May 11, 2005 by Tunney

Guest bosshogg Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Phones running Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphones (both first and second editions) come with the .net compact framework installed in ROM and will support c# applications. For UK networks, this is currently the Orange SPV E200 (HTC Voyager) and Orange SPV C500 (HTC Typhoon). I think the Motorola MPX220 also runs 2003, but I don't know that for a fact...
