Anyone ever given this a try - http://www.orb.com/ ?

Would be awesome if it worked well.

Been using Orb for a while now and I have to say it works very well. Used to use Snapstream and ever since Orb got a more stable release, I haven't been back. Just hope now that it is free, they would mess it up with too many ads.

In any case, I would definitely recommend it any time. (and no, I am not in any way affiliated to them ;) )

Cool. Did you have any problems setting it up? I'm trying to use my SMT 5600 on T-Mo with Orb, and keep getting a "The file cannot be viewed on this device." message whenever I press the blue button to play content.

That's weird. Did you wait a while for it to download the TV listing? Have you been able to play it from a PC? Also, go to Tools, and make sure "Windows Media" is set as the default player

managed to fix it. you were spot on - the first time you log on with your smartphone, you need to go to tools and set WM as the default player. what a sweet little app! can't wait till we're using this thing on EDGE/3G speeds!

Hi, I have an unlocked smt5600 on tmobile with unlimited t-zones. I tried using orb but was only able to view photos. I assumed this was because I am unable to stream content using t-zones, but apparently the previous post indicates it works. djpfine, what type of internet access do you have with tmobile? Any advice setting it up on my phone?

Thanks,

Jason

yea i've heard of people having problems with the $4.99 tzones plan. I have the $19.99 unlimited, so it works fine. not sure what else you could do...it might just be a limitation of your plan.

I am actually currently using it with the grandfathered $2.99 T-Zones plan. ;)

I have the same smartphone. (Typhoon)

Orb worked great when it was on Windows Mobile 2003SE. Windows Media Player was fanstastic.

I find that orb will not stream an ANY windows mobile 2005 device so far.

(both WM5 smartphone and WM5 pocket pc Media Player 10.1)

-Please wait while Orb measures the network speed. (success)

-I see my favorites and play a tv station (looks good at first)

-Windows Media opens with error:

"Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not suport the format you are trying to play"

more info.........

Meida plays my local MP3's just fine

Media plays http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile/ just fine

Media plays various .WMV videos perfect

Is their another Smartphone app out there that can take over for these streams?

(maybe 3GP ?)

"Windows Mobile 5.0 is not yet supported and we are currenlty in the process of testing. It will most likely be supported by the time Windows Mobile 5.0 is officially released."

Orb works perfectly on my SMT5600 and I haven't come across any of the mentioned errors. I watched about 20 minutes of streamed video with no problems.

Which OS are you running?

It works fine on Windows Mobile 2003SE but not Windows Mobile 5.0
