Guest Bob 100 Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 (edited) I am new to the forum and would really appreciate some advice from people with experience of pocket PC's. I am looking at buying an imate Jam / Qtek S100 (same thing it seems). I use an Apple Mac powerbook as my everyday computer but DON'T have a Windows PC. I am looking to use the device as follows: mobile phone music player syncing contacts and diary checking my email with AOL. viewing mpeg files and photos I have found software called the missing sync for syncing Apple and Pocket PC so syncing contacts and diary plus photos and music not a problem. I understand that PocketTV will play Mpeg files, and that i can setup my imate to access IMAP4 email also. So all seems fine, however I am concerned that by not having a windows PC it may lead to problems at a later date, Is there anything should be aware of before i purchase the device. For example, when I download new software for the imate do i need to use a windows based PC to open files etc. before they can put onto the imate? Sorry to ask such a simple question but just need to check before i spend my hard earned !! Thanks in advance. :?: ;) Edited May 11, 2005 by Bob 100
Guest nickcornaglia Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 If you're using MissingSync, the only problems you may have is if there is software you wish to install, that only has a PC Installer and not a CAB format setup which can be installed dorectly from the phone. Other than that....you should have no problems...I believe. Also note that you cant use MissingSync yet with the latest TigerOS until they update the app. Do a search here on Modaco for MAC or MISSINGSYNC and you'll find threads from other MAC users.
