Is there somewhere where I can get these?

Also, what type of video will it play at best?

If I need a converter to downsize the video file from my PC, what should I get?

Many thanks in advance.

You can encode your videos using freeware programs then load the output file to Betaplayer.

Have a look at the Articles Section for some video conversion guide. ;)

1. Download PocketDivxEncoder (FREE) from http://divx.ppccool.com/ - this has built in templates to convert movie files to those suitable for smartphones (just select the smartphone option when the app starts up). The converted file is output to a folder of your choice, you then just copy it to your phone and......Play it using Betaplayer which you can download (FREE) from http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/ - this plays most formats including DivX so you'll fit more on your card.

Thanks to SIDEBP for this info.

I have always found that windows media encoder seems to work the best - i always use it to convert mp3 to wma so i can use them as ringtones for the c500

But as you can gather from above - theres loads of converters out there - just try a few aand see which you prefer

are these converters better than windows media? and after downloading, where do you put the file in the phone? would it possibly go in the storage card folder??? sorry to seem naive, but am not that familiar with going as far as movies and videos.... just another quick question...music videos...I have a cd with a video I've downloaded to the computer, but it is in quick time format...If I copy and paste it to the storage card, will my wm player 9 pick it up automatically and play it or do I also need the above converter? and if so how exactly do you use it??? Thanks in advance....Steve

You can add it to any folder, but the storage card one probably has most room and will have least effect on the performance of your phone.

If you use Betaplayer and select 'open file', it goes to your folders so you can locate the vid. To make it easier to find, it might be worth setting up a new folder on the card.

As far as your other questions go I don't know the answers, but I am sure someone will.

There are 2 ways you can enjoy videos on your phone. First one you already know. Download CD/DVD on your PC and copy/paste to storage card. Biggest disadvantage is the file size. You are going to have a HUGE file. Since smartphone screen is way too small than say your PC, you do not need all this high resolution (aka bigger files). If you are happy with wmv/wma format + WM player combo, then all you need to do is buy a program such as Pocket DVD studio or something similar. Check out Handango or pocket Gear site. Main advantage for buying this type of commercial programs is ease of use. You can set the resolution to lower resolution and it will convert the whole DVD to much much smaller file. This way you can load more movies in your memory card.

Second solution is to use Betaplayer, which I use. Beta player can play files in .AVI format besides some other formats. By using the same program mentioned above, you can convert DVD to AVI files 9again smaller size) and play on Betaplayer. IMHO, Betaplayer is one of best players for smartphone and it's free. Note: Conversion process can take as much time as the length of the movie, so best thing to do will be to set it up before going to dinner and upon your return movie will be ready. Of course, you will have to tranfer the converted movie to memory card. Other suggestion: Buy a GOOD card reader. It will cut doen the transfer time significantly. Hope this help.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I think I would go with the pocket dvd studio...is there any particular one to go with? I really want the easiest and best to use as I'm not too familiar with all this as of yet, I'm still learning. Have seen handango and pocket gear and they all look fairly reasonable.. Thanks again.

It really does help me to understand as I am learning..and I appreciate you taking the time to do so..... ;) Where can you get beta player...?I think it's in a link in one of these posts...but I'm not sure if it's the right one...and is it easy to use with the pocket dvd studio (where did you get yours from if you don't mind me asking)? I assume they must work together??? Not too complicated I hope. After today I will be away for over a week but will let you know when I get it going ;) Thanks for your help...

Betaplayer is a media player for your phone. Works well, is freeware, and can play a lot of different file formats. Try it out and see what you think.

As for refromating the movie for your phone there are lots of options depending on how much you want to spend and how simplified you need the process. There are lost of posts here that will explain what program to use and how to convert for free.

Try out a few different ways and see what you like best.

Cant say how crazy it is watching 24 on my SPV. Very good sound and picture

and with 256mb SD I can have 2 episodes at a time on the phone.

Even thinking of hooking the sound to my car stereo for some passenger in car entrtainment.

The C500 never ceases to amaze me. CLASS!
