Playing Movies, fast forward & rewind

Hi, I have encoded movies and played them back using the bundled media player. The big draw back is that there is no fast forward and rewind and in most cases when I resume playback after pausing the movie the picture keeps freezing and becomes more like a slide show.

Is there anything I can do to stop this or is there a better alternative to the bundled media player.

Have you tried encoding your videos to Betaplayer-compatible AVI format?
