Quick question on 2.5mm adaptors.

Unlike most people I don't want to plug a set of decent headphones into my SPV (well I do but...).

What I'd like to do is plug a decent microphone into my SPV to try it as a podcorder. The built in mic is fine for single person recording, but to record a group of people, or even a band playing live I need a decent microphone.

Are there any 2.5 - 3.5mm adaptors out there which will work for a microphone, could I just use a normal adaptor and get away with it, does someone whose got a 2.5 - 3.5mm adaptor want to try plugging in a microphone (perhaps your PC mic) and seeing if it'll record, even with the standard Voice Notes prog.
