We tried that already! Never heard of Mr. Orange? The poor guy got such a hard time over the delayed e100 update, that he never came back! :twisted: I think that put the nail in the coffin for our chances of having an official orange contact on the forum.

Well we should have one . . . though soon we'll have to have a mr Vodaphone and MR Virgin (grins) and Mr O2 . . . all the operators are takeing up the windows mobile platform.

Personally I don't think MrO made any real contribution to the flow of, or access to, information. I've got nothing against the person (never even knew who "he" was), but if all they do is quote from the Orange website then what's the point?

I think we have to face it that this is a public forum, and Orange won't make official announcements here, especially not before they do so on their own site.

well i emailed orange direct and this is the response i got

Dear Gavin

Thank you for your mail.

I am not aware of any software update being released for the SPV C500 phone.

Anything that is authorised by Orange for use on their phones will be made

available on our website under help and support, then the actual make and model

of phone.

I trust this information is helpful.

Though i admire everyones enthusiasm in this subject i must say its getting boring saying the same things over and over again.

Yes you recieved a letter from Orange customer services claiming there is no update BUT thats orange customer services and they'll be the last to know about this -

as far as i can see they are trained to deal with our problems and have little insight into the technical future of our phones.

we can see this is an individule answering, but we can also see this individule hasn't investigated your question, they obviously havn't attemped to expand their knowledge on the subject - simply becuase of this persons use of 'I'.

INFACT i expect this question has been asked so many time OCS have probably developed a standard answer . . .

Ok im sorry i've gone on so much but please realise that the Update Might / might not come - and the only way we can tell is by waiting for it. Rant over.

Two things spring to mind:

1. Orange is owned by France Telecom, so perhaps it's not so surprising that the French updates come out first?

2. Clearly you feel strongly about this, what with a :roll: and a :evil: . Have you considered installing the French update? I've used it since it came out and can confirm that it works fine (except TomTom which I don't use).

1. I too would expect France to get the release first. I would also expect UK staff to be aware of the situation.

2. I don't really care that much about the C500 update, but I feel the other members' pain. My whinge is purely about Orange's corporate culture of ignorance and misinformation.

I don't use my C500 much any more and am looking forward to the next generation of phones.

It does seem daft though, doesn't it? I mean, someone obviously contacted Paul to say that an update was 'imminent'. Now, whomever that may have been surely would be aware that Paul would post it on the forum, thereby instantly creating a whole bunch of C500 users desperately wanting it - especially since this update is due to include WM10. So, to then leave us waiting for ages just seems plain ignorant.

I think we could safely say that whatever O dept is dealing with the update are a bunch of mindless jerks who will be first against the wall when the revolution comes! ;)
