When working with data such as checking email or launching Interenet Explorer, I find that when the session is completed, there is never a disconnect from GPRS, as indicated by the small "g" above the signal strenght bar remaining visible.

Is their a third party application that empowers one to disconnect from GPRS other than the alterantive of powering off the phone or toggling flight mode off & on?

In the "smartphone ms newsgroup" I posted this question & the answer was that it really didn't matter that this was left on, & the responder to my question likened it to a dsl line that is always on. Not sure that answer satisfied me since I suspect (maybe wrongly) that if the gprs is active, that battery life could be compromised. Even though I have an unlimited data account I would assume there is no chance for data transfer charges, even if one didn't have unlimited data, since no data would be transfered, even if it is on, if you are not accessing email or the internet.

Anyway...appreciate any comments..

The small G being active (active PDP context) should make no difference battery life. There reason for this is mainly to do with the mobility state in the SGSN ;)
