Hi all,

I have got a nokia car kit in my car and was wondering if anyone could give anyadvice on how I could possibly convert this to use with my SPV C500. Possibly with a normal in car holder and somewhere wiring the existing cables into an adaptor that fits the SPV.

:?:

I really don't know, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

Is your Nokia carkit a Bluetooth kit?

I used to have an old Nokia 6310 carkit, and I found a passive cradle from Brodit which uses the same mechanical fitting holes as the Nokia cradle. I then have a Bluetooth carkit. Brodit also now have what they call an "active" version of this cradle, although in reality the only thing it has in addition is a mini-USB charger socket - they have two versions, one which plugs into the cigarette lighter, and another one which you can hard wire to the car's battery.

Actually, I'm looking for a cradle which has a built-in antenna connector. Brodit supply adapter cables which fit the antenna connector of the SPV C500, but I haven't found anybody who actually sells a cradle with the antenna connector built-in. Without an external antenna connection, the phone causes a lot of interference to the car display, which is not exactly very reassuring!

Does anybody know of any companies who build cradles for the C500 with built-in antenna connector?

James,

Is it possible to use just the THB Bury cradle on its own (ie. just for the external antenna connection) or can it only be fitted to the THB Bury car kit?

Regards,

Mark

My nokia carkit is a wired kit. I was hpoing to use the existing wiring and just add a cradle or adaptor for the C500. Do you know if this is possible?

Thanks

Sorry, no idea. Try the forum on the following website. There's tons of info on carkits there:

www.siocommunications.co.uk

There's a thread here

forum item

which says that the Nokia CK-7W carkit (new version which has both Bluetooth and wired interfaces) works fine with the SPV C500. I'm not sure which Nokia carkit you have, but I guess it's probably the older CARK-91 with the HFU-2 main box. If so, you may be able to swap out the main box of your existing Nokia carkit for the box of the CK-7W. You'd have to buy the new Nokia carkit, but at least you wouldn't have to get it professionally installed. I had a similar question at one point last year, and I'm sure the guy at sio communications said it was possible to change one for the other with a simple adapter cable which they can supply.

i dont think so my memory of my old 6310i car kit seems to think there was a 4 way wired connection for power ignition etc. on my new c500 car kit same connections apply i assume this could be plugged fom the old nokia loom. no u cant use just the cradle the way thb bury kits work is you have a generic thing that attaches to the dash then you buy the relevant cradle for ur phone. dunno bout you but i seem to change phone every 6 months and after my nokia car kit i moved to bluetooth car kit and always missed my old cradle. so the short answer is no you cant but if you Buy a kit you should be able to plug whatever cradle adapter into it when you get ur next phone. ill take a pic if it will help ur decision
