Guest sittingduck Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 (edited) When using media player to play my video clips, most video's i have put on my phone have an annoying black border round them when played in full screen mode, but one video I have on there does play in full screen with no border, I would like all my clips to play in full screen with no border, Can anyone advise me how to sort this out. the differences between the clips in the properties menu are: With black border: video size= 320 x 240, Video codec =Windows Media video 9 , Bit Rate=306Kbs No border (full screen) : video size= 208 x 160, Video codec =Windows Media video V7 , Bit Rate=152Kbs if the clips need encoding, can anyone advise me which software to use & the correct settings thx :?: is it the video size that is causing the border around the screen, so if i could lower it to 208 x 160 would that give me true full screen for all the clips? Update : tried it & it does work, you just need a program for altering the video size, so i can enjoy all my wmv in full screen now with no border ;) Edited May 26, 2005 by sittingduck

Unfortunately when I sync video using WMP10 I have no option to change the resoilution. I dont want to use another program because that is the only method to transfer tv over from my media center edition. Any other solutions???? I have the smt5610 w/wmp10.
Guest algy Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I figured out how to get WMP10 to convert files to the correct size for playing full screen on the SMT5600 without the black border. Here's what you can do: 1) Download a registry editor that can edit the registry on the SMT5600. I used this one - "http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx" from Arne Hess. It works great and you don't need to install anything on the phone. I can highly recommend it. 2) Using the editor, open the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/ASFCodecs/Video". 3) For each codec listed, change the "Preferred Width" value to 220 and the "Preferred Height" value to 176. This will make each video transcoded by WMP10 to be the correct size for full screen in landscape mode on the SMT5600. 4) Last, but not least, in WMP10 on your computer, go to "tools ... options ... privacy" tab and click "delete caches". Or you could delete the file "WMPInfo.xml" on the phone, seems to have the same effect. Now all files should be converted to full screen, looks a lot better!
Guest ctitanic Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Guys, I'm working to include this trick in Tweaks2k2 for SP but I don't have WMP10 neither my betatesters. So I need some informations. 1- what is the default values for "Preferred Width" and the "Preferred Height"? 2- Are these the codecs the ones present in your phones [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\WMV1] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\WMV2] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\WMV3] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\WMVA] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\WMVP] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\WVP2] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\MP43] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\MP42] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ASFCodecs\Video\MP4S] "PreferredWidth" "PreferredHeight" 3-What is the location of this file? WMPInfo.xml Thanks in advance
Guest ctitanic Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Ok, this hack has been added to version 1.6.0 of Tweaks2k2 for SP, currently available only at my site.
Guest Broward954 Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 I did the reg edit and it still didn't work for me :) I cleared the cache via wm10 but when I attempted to locate the wmpinfo.xml file I couldnt find it. I dunno if this could be the prob or not

Guest ctitanic Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Same here - I still get the border <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that's the funny part with smartphones. what is good in one is not good in another. In the Pocket PC world almost 90% of tricks are good no matter what PPC do you own.
Guest pjam001 Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I just struggle at first with this but found I had to clear the cache within WMP10 on the PC whilst the phone was not connected. After the reg tweek it then works fine.
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 have you tried taking off the "shrink to fit window" option? (Menu, Options, Audio/Video). You may loose some of the picture, but it should then be full size.
