Guest Paul [MVP] Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 GotW: PocketGrandmaster This week's 'Game of the Week' is PocketGrandmaster, my favourite from a number of Chess games available for the platform. For starters, let's have a few words from the creators of PocketGrandmaster for Smartphone! Hi and thanks for speaking to MoDaCo! Please introduce yourself! We're two computer chess enthusiasts who became fascinated by mobile devices, when we first played chess with a stylus on the touchscreen of a Pocket PC. It was so much better than playing with a mouse, that we decided to develop PocketGrandmaster, which is now also available in a version for Windows Powered Smartphones. Describe Pocket Grandmaster in your own words PocketGrandmaster for Smartphone is a chess program specially adapted for use with an Action key. It features a strong engine with many levels, a training mode and a coach, various piece sets and sound effects. PocketGrandmaster (for Pocket PC) won Pocket PC Magazines' Best Software Award 2003 in the category "Chess Games". What makes Pocket Grandmaster worth buying above other Smartphone Chess games? Entering moves with the Action key is easier in PocketGrandmaster than in most other chess programs, because it offers a "smart mode", which allows to enter chess moves with very few moves of the Action key. What can we expect to see next from you? An improved version of PocketGrandmaster for Pocket PC. Head over to the PocketGrandmaster Home Page to find out more! I'd be interested to hear which chess games other fellow Chess players play on their Smartphone / Pocket PC... post your thoughts below! P
Guest ddavef Posted May 18, 2005 Report Posted May 18, 2005 I use Valentin Iliescu Chess for Smartphone. This is the best game app ever!!! So easy to operate, quick and enjoyable. Even better its free, of course you can always make a donation to the developer for such a great app. Only has 6 levels and my estimation of the strength of level 6 is about 1800 - 2000, so good enough to beat 98% of players out there!!
