Newsbreak Problems on the PPC (imate Jam)

I noticed recently that I am initially able to get a GPRS connection but after a phone call or PC sync...I am unable to restore that connection. I need to soft reset before I can connect again. I believe Newsbreak is the culprit.

I dont know if it's just hogging up the connection, not permitting any other app including Inbox, to use the connection....or if there is a problem with the software. I dont think it's taking up all of the bandwith as the connection is closed and unable to be restored. I think it's closing the connection and locking it up somehow.

The error I receive is a long one that literally says something like....there is a unspecified problem with your GPRS connection. Check your manufacturer's manual and network settings and try again.

I hard reset my device and tried again to be sure. I had no problems until I installed Newsbreak. The problem went away when I uninstalled.

Anyone have a similar problem as this? My next step is to write illiumsoft but I wanted to see if I was alone.

I hadnt noticed the problem until after the imate update...but that may or may not be just a coincidence.

Cancel this...even with Newsbreak uninstalled...I got the problem again. It cant be that my settings are incorrect, because it works fine....sometimes. I started a new thread in Help and advice here:

Could still be Newsbreak doing the damage though. Many apps don't uninstall fully, most usually leave a file or three lying around, along with a few registry entries. They may also mess with your settings and not undo the changes when you remove them.

I did another hard reset and didnt install anything since last night and it's all working fine. The weather app or newsbreak is the culprit...I just need to figure which one.

Well the problem came back even with NOTHING installed for a few days. Turns out that I am not the only one with the problem and the fault lies with the newest rom. HTC is supposedly aware of the glitch.
