I just purchased my Audiovox SMT 5600 and I am having trouble getting my pictures that are saved on my contact list to show up when a caller is calling. Does anyone know how I can get them show up?

Thanks

Ok :

1.Select the pictures you want 4 your contacts.

2.Resize them to 176x200 pixels (u get better results with crop as you can select a region of the picture that u r interested in ).

3.Copy the pictures on your device to Storage>My Documents>IA Caller ID Photos.

4.Go to Storage>My Documents>IA Caller ID using file explorer on your phone select a picture and press middle joystick button (OK) ,than press the right softkey (Menu) and select option 3 "Save as" and after that - 1 "Caller ID Photo" ,press ok u will b taken to your phone book to choose the contact u want 2 attach the picture 2 ,press next (left softkey button) ,and from over there u can choose how the picture should b shown ,with templates ,position etc .Hope it helps !!! ;)

Oh and welcome to MoDaCo !!! ;)

I just tried what you suggested and I can get to the part where I select the picture and press the middle joystick button...the picture opens up, but I dont have a (menu) option show up in order for me to complete the process. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks again for your help!

That doesn't work on my C500 either !

Steps 1-3 above are right.

Now go to Caller Photo ID in the Start menu (phone menu rather than with Smart Explorer) and scroll to the contact you want to edit. Press action key.

Now hit left softkey - 'Assign Photo'

Scroll to required image and hit action key again.

Photo should now show with last-used template.

You can hit Menu and select Next / Previous templates.

Finally hit Done ;)

Isn't caller photo ID an app that is incl in the Orange ROM but not the Audiovox ROM?

I do have a memory like a sieve so I could be thinking of something completely different.....

It crossed my mind that the Audiovox might not have the IA Style (as was) software, but that company was taken over by HTC rather than Orange so I assumed it would.

If you see what I mean !

The phone has an IA folder- so I am not sure if that is the same as you mentioned above. I have been able to assign photo's to my contact list, but when the call comes in for a contact with a photo the Caller id does not come up with the photo and template selected. I am not sure if there is something else I need to do.

Thanks again for all your help so far!

Do you have the "Caller Photo ID" app on your phone? Disco Stu says his is on the Start Menu, on my C500 it is in the Orange folder (Orange is my phone provider) and that is the app taht assigns the photo to appear when they ring.

The caller ID app is on my phone- under settings/phone/caller id. The only options I have is to display my id when I make calls. Sorry for being so naive to all this- first smart phone. ;)

That's a different setting.

You should have an app, either on your start menu or in a folder off your start menu called either "Caller Photo ID" or possibly "IA Caller Photo ID"

You needn't apologise, the SmartPhone is quite complicated which is what makes it so flexible and this forum is here to ask questions in. I know I certainly do!

Good luck.

Any suggestions where it might be? Thanks again!

Hi cmacho! first you must Active Sync your phone to your PC via the USB/charger cable.

1. With Active Sync window active, click on Explore

2. You will then be presented with the My Smartphone view

3. Double-Click this then you'll be able to see IPSM,Temp, Windows

4. Browse through IPSM>Windows>Program Files>

What folders then can you see there?

It's a different file structure on WM2003SE (there is no IPSM directory) as used on the C500 and smt5600 and on the C500 the program is in ROM so doesn't show up under program files.

Just found thsi thread http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...caller+ID++5600

Which might help.

Hey, just found this thread, and just bought an Audiovox 5600... I can't get the photo caller id working either... I've tried every solution I've read on modaco to no avail.

I have a \storage\my documents\IA Caller ID Photos\ folder with some pics in it. I do not have a "Caller Photo ID" app anywhere on my phone... I DO have a "Photo Contacts" app that I believe is what you guys are referring to as "Caller Photo ID" because it works exactly the same way you are describing...

I have also set the "Display photo during incoming or waiting call." option checked on the Menu--> Options --> General tab in the Photo Contacts app. I can preview the people I have images for and they look correct... but still it does not show them when they call. It shows their name and the standard lightning bolt/phone picture (animated).

Any ideas? Is there some software on the cd that came with the phone I need to install?

Thanks in advance and hello to everyone on the board. I will probably be around a lot in the near future.

if anyone cares, i fixed the issue with my phone... I had tried everyone of your solutions, and all steps were doable... but it still wouldn't show the pictures...

my fix was that I downloaded the Photo Contacts 2.0 demo, installed it, used it... then uninstalled it... and the built in photo contacts program started working.

yay me.
