Guest bakka2000 Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Hello (i am a german guy, so sorry for my bad english), I bought a brand new unlocked mpx200 and I think it's a really nice phone. But there is one question I have. Is there any possibility to use my phone as an usb drive? I am running winXp on my desktop and I would like to see my phone in windows explorer. I don't want to install activeSnyc on each PC I have and my friends have. Thanks beforehand
Guest James Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Welcome to the Forum ;) Cant be done i am affraid, the phone storage is diferent than a USB drive. You have to use ActiveSync to access the storage on the phone. Would be a really nice feature though!
Guest bakka2000 Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005  bad news for me. Does anyone konw if there is any software which makes windows mobile 2002 act like an file server over usb? I can't belive that activeSync should be the only solution.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Activsync is the only solution you have. What's wrong with Activsync? it's free and easy to install.
Guest bakka2000 Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Yes, it's easy to use and it's free and I installed ActiveSnyc just one minute ago on all my pcs. The problem is that I don't have the permission on university-pcs to install software... and my friends don't have smartphones and don't want to install ActiveSync. Currently I am using an old USB 1.1 128MB storage device... it's the third usb drive I have, because I am loosing these little things too often ;) ... but I'll never loose my phone 8) And therefore I had the idea to use my phone instead of a usb drive.

It would be nice wouldn't it? But not possible :P I haven't lost my USB drive (I've put it through the washing machine tho!) which is very surprising ;)
