Guest happytang Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I finally made the decision to go ahead and switch to 2003 last night, not for system stability or extra applications, but to increase the battery life of my phone which was at around 9 hours, but atleast it's increased to about 44 now. But that's not the problem. Ever since I've updated, I found my phone to become EXTREMELY hot at times. But rather, it wasn't on the bottom half of the phone, where the battery is located, but rather on the top, around the speaker phone. My screen is still doing fine, and so is the phone. But the fact that this phone could melt down in my pocket next to me loins, is a little more than I asked for when I payed a mere 60 dollars for it. Should I be worried, or is there once again some other type of registry tweak that I am able to do ;)
Guest moosery Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 how hot is hot? the mpx200 does get warm, but generally only when it's processing something. Which it shouldnt be, in your pocket. Unless you're listening to mp3s or something? So yes - how hot? Burning hot - shouldnt be! But quite warm (like those handwarmers you can buy) is OK. I think the battery has a safety tolerance/cutout somewhere near 50C? Anyone know the exacts?
Guest happytang Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Well... It's not BURNING hot. It's just extremely hot for a phone. The fact that I can even feel something warm in my pocket sometimes is already some kind of sign.
Guest moosery Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Hmm. Is that where the aerial is, I wonder? Do you have GPRS on all the time? mine stays cool as ice if I'm not playing games/mp3s/talking on it. I'm on 2003 and have been for about 6 months. Hard reset?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Could be the battery ready to die.
